More cat than dog, Gizmo was certainly a unique friend. She would go absolutely feral for treats that had fish in it, especially salmon. Always under our feet whenever we were in the kitchen looking to vacuum up whatever morsels she could. Her favorite thing to do was nap in the sun and roll around in the grass. She hated the car with a fiery passion and would bark at us the whole way to our destination. She never really played and liked her peace in solitude, but always preferred to be in someone’s presence and did not mind being held like a baby every once in a while. In her later years, every time she was let back inside she would get her diaper on and zoom around the house like a puppy despite her decline. We always assumed that she would live forever and would fight for life just to spite everyone that doubted her. I’m so glad to have had the privilege of her presence for nearly seventeen years, and I am so honored to have been able to call her my best friend for the majority of my life. The tip taps of her nails on hardwood and her little groans in her sleep will be dearly missed.
